Hope FOR the City | Strong Enough to Carry You — Week 1

We use the words "optimism" and "hope" like they mean the same thing.

They don't. One is a wish. The other is a pathway — and only one of them survives contact with real life.

Everybody's chasing something. Not always something bad — sometimes it's healing, or security, or just the ability to hold your life together. But even good things become destructive things when we ask them to do what only God can do.

In this message, Ryan Smart opens the Hope for the City series with the woman in Mark 5 who spent twelve years and everything she had chasing a cure — and finally found something stronger than the thing she was chasing. Pulling in 1 Peter 1, Ryan unpacks why pressure doesn't create your problems, it exposes what you were actually standing on the whole time.

Hope isn't the absence of the problem. It's the presence of something stronger than the problem.
